Klaserie Lowveld Trail/Kruger Park 1.

"A wilderness walking trail leaves no doubt in your mind as to what you have experienced. The close proximity of each encounter - being it large or small- makes you a part of the wilderness."

This is a dual destination trip with the first three nights being spent in Klaserie Private Nature Reserve, thereafter proceeding to the Kruger National Park for one night.

Klaserie Private Nature Reserve is part of the greater Kruger Park Area and is located approximately 20 kilometers from the small town of Hoedspruit in the Northern Province. The trails camp lies on roughly the same latitude as Satara Camp which is one of the main Kruger Park camps.

All the intermediate fences have been removed allowing free animal movement between Kruger Park and the Klaserie Private Nature Reserve. All the larger mammal species of the Kruger Park - with the exception of black rhino and some of the rare antelope species - occur in this region.

The emphasis of the trail is to spend time on foot in the reserve, not only looking for the large mammals but also the smaller creatures, birds and insects that are present.

The aspects of the bush that are normally overlooked when driving around a reserve are now observed, allowing a greater understanding of the ecology of the region.

An open land rover is based in the camp but this is used only for limited game /night drives and moving to different areas of the reserve in which walking will take place.

Our tented camp is situated on the banks of the Klaserie River and is rustic (but very comfortable) with open air shower and toilet (flush) facilities. The tents are carpeted with proper beds and mosquito netting on both doors. Meals are prepared over the open fire. Visitors must supply their own drinks and there are cooling facilities in the camp.

The general format of the trail is early rise in the morning, light breakfast and then head out into the bush for a few hours.  The walks are designed for enjoyment, observing and learning.

The idea is not to see how far the group can walk, and a number of hours on foot may result in only a few kilometers being covered. We return late morning and after a brunch spend time relaxing or bird watching in the camp during the heat of the day. Mid afternoon, we again spend a few hours in the bush, returning to the camp after dark for dinner.

On the morning of day 4, after packing and closing camp, we depart in the microbus for the Kruger National Park. We enter the Park at Orpen Gate and spend the morning traveling to Satara Camp, which will be our overnight camp. We will have a light picnic lunch at Satara Camp before spending the afternoon game-driving in the central region of the Park.

The following morning is spent game driving in a southerly direction, an early lunch at Tshokwane Picnic Site and then making our way to the exit gate for departure to Johannesburg by lunchtime. We arrive back in Johannesburg by 18h00.

The trail is limited to a maximum of eight people and an air-conditioned VW microbus is used for the trip from/return to Johannesburg and traveling in Kruger Park.

The price of the trail includes transport from Johannesburg to the reserve/return via Kruger Park, all meals*, all walks and game drives, accommodation in the tented trails camp, accommodation in Kruger Park Camp, park fees into both reserves and basic equipment.

Drinks are excluded and may be purchased en-route and in the Kruger Park camp shop.

* Meals include a light breakfast, late morning brunch and evening dinner.

Klaserie Lowveld Trail/Kruger Park 2.

This trail is the same format as the trail outlined above except that we travel into Kruger Park and spend two nights in this region.

NOTE:

Camps visited in Kruger National Park may depend on accommodation availability or access to these camps during the different seasons.

Use of entry/exit gates to Kruger National Park may change according to circumstances and proximity of overnight camps to be visited.

Format of the above trips may change according to client needs and/or destinations that you may want to visit.

Prices quoted are subject to change. This will only occur if there are price changes in the camps in which we have booked accommodation and therefore we have no control over these price changes.

Klaserie Lowveld Trail/Kruger Park/Mashatu Game Reserve.

This is also a combination trail visiting three destinations.  The first part of the trail follows the same format as the Klaserie/Kruger Trail but instead of exiting from the southern section of Kruger Park and returning to Johannesburg, we travel to the north and then into Botswana. We spend two nights in Mashatu Game Reserve following the same format as the Elephant Trail.

This is normally a seven day trail but the number of days may be increased to suit client requirements.

Transport for this trail is provided and we travel in an air conditioned VW microbus.
